AIG - welfare pigs have nose in trough

I heard a rumour last night that there was private capital prepared to take over AIG, but the AIG boys scuppered all attempts because they didn't want to lose their jobs. This doesn't surprise me at all - bloody corporate welfare recipients all of them. They stuff up what was one of the safest and stable companies and expect the taxpayer to foot the bill. If you were a US citizen you'd be looking for an exit. But don't come here this country isn't going anywhere fast - try Hong Kong.

Not PC sums up the situation best here!

My nemesis!

Due to renovations, I have been staying at Mum & Dad’s place, waaaay out in the country, faaaar from everyone else.

Everyone asks what it’s like staying at home with your parents – what they are really saying is that they couldn’t live back with their parents. But M&D are those relaxed, laid back, well balanced kind of parents and it really is fine – yes they have their ‘ways’, but I’m sure I’m more of a pain than they are.

However, they do have one veeery big fault. They are absolutely and totally in love with Boss the dog. This love means the little bugger can do no wrong. He sits on the couch; he sits on the arm chair. These are places I like to sit and I hate (and I mean hate) animal fur. If you move around the room he’s there constantly underfoot, if you aren’t moving around the room he’s there, wanting constantly to be patted. If you get in the way of him and food he bites you, if you smack him for this, he bites you again. If you say to M&D that this is unacceptable, they say you shouldn’t get in the way of him and food. If he steals food from the kitchen, it’s your fault for leaving it in his reach. If he goes into your room and steals your clothes, it’s your fault for leaving your door open. Every door has to be shut or he’s into everything - it's like living in a jail. He is an un-disciplined, spoilt baby and generally has the run of the house.

So Boss has become my nemesis. He thinks he is hot stuff – probably because Dad tells him so every 15 minutes. He also knows that he outranks me and he knows I’m on to him, but what does he care, he has the love, adoration and protection of M&D.

But I’ll figure out a way to get the better of him and I think it will involve the cat (Puppy) who rules it over Boss. She’s another weird animal, but loves (ok likes) me, so between us I’m sure we’ll think of something.

Go Truckies

Good on the truckies, go for it - finally someone is protesting against the theiving bastards that like to rule it over us.

Gosh years and years of Kiwi's just rolling over has finally come to an end - and I lived to see it :o)

Update: I was in the city this morning, so got to see all the trucks - it really was alot of fun. The truckies seem to enjoy themselves and everyone I spoke to thought it was great - it was good to see some cheer going round for once. I think everyone feels that this Labour Government is on they way out and are just enjoying themselves?

My apologies Mr Perigo

When I first started down the road of political enlightenment - nearly 15 years ago now - I had a conversation with Lindsay Perigo about the increasing taxes on cigarettes and alcohol. At the time Lindsay said that butter and coffee would be next. I inwardly scoffed (too scared to do this outwardly of course) and thought 'what is this guy on'? Made a comment to the effect that Nanny State would never get this out of line.

Well it appears that I owe Mr Perigo a huge apology (bottle of red on it's way). It appears that I was totally ignorant of how far Nanny and her servants are prepared to go, in fact the controls are turning into a Tsunami - ready to swamp us and smash what remains of our freewill to death - I think it has become unstoppable.

Secretly I hope that Labour win a further term. Why? Because Labour will continue on, at an ever increasing rate, to take control of more and more facets of our lives. Maybe when we aren't allowed to freely eat butter and drink coffee, will the populous stand up in enough numbers and say fuck off. Cause at the moment they are just saying, 'please Mummy Clark, please tell me what to do, I am so useless and stupid I can't possibly manage on my own'.

More on this when I've calmed down - christ I'm pissed off - and most pissed of with those that voted for this. What the hell are you thinking - oh I forgot, thinking is just too hard for your poor wee brains. Don't panic just look over your shoulder - there's Nanny no need to think anymore.

Hat tip: Oswald Bastable.

Green-apes

Finally caught up with the weekend papers and spied a great Sunday Hearld column by the charming Kerry Woodham titled "Up yours, Greenpeace".

I too was a member of Greenpeace in my youth - not entirely sure why now, but it probably had something to do with my brain dead vegetarian years, not entirely sure why I did that either. Funnily enough all coincided with my socialist period - thank god I've got an excuse for embarrassing lapse in rationality - obviously not enough braincells to think clearly.

Anyway, the other day a Greenpeace lass knocked on my door to try and pry some hard earned dollars out of my wallet. I informed her that I was an atheist and didn't subscribe to groups that live in laalaa land - just ones that base their views on rational thought and evidence. She said that Greenpeace wasn't a religion, but I begged to differ.

She then asked if I wanted a "better world for my children". Was initially taken aback that I looked like I might have children - in her defence I was wearing my trackies so she can be excused for thinking so. "Yes" I said "I do want a better world for my nieces" and that was precisely why I wouldn't support Greenpeace or any other environmentalist organisations. It is the very people that Greenpeace attack that make my world, this world, a beautiful place to live in. They provide me with light when it's dark, food when I'm hungry, movies when I'm bored, champagne when I'm celebrating, chemo when I'm dying, planes when I'm in the mood to view this beautiful world. They also provide me all the necessities that allow me to do the job I love - books, computers, software, internet, financial markets, the cup that holds my tea and the tea itself.

The policies and aim of these environmentalists are no less than a desire to turn man back into animals, scrambling around in caves, or at best eking out a meager existence on a farm. This world they desire would mean millions upon millions would stave to death, and they would be the lucky ones. The rest would live a short and miserable existence in a truly malevolent world. A world that would kill me and my nieces and all future generations of my family. I would no sooner align myself with the green movement as I would the Ebola Virus.

The day that the greenies advocate for nuclear power is the day I might (might, I add) start to listen to them. I think it's safe to say that day will never come.

NZers free to speak - not bloody likely

Christ this country is just frankly bloody pissing me off - why do I bother hanging around? Another hardworking upstanding citizen silenced!

Well done Andy Moore for your efforts to try and retain free speech in this country - I hope to meet you one day to shake your hand.

Vigilantism - on the rise?

Driving back today from Tutakaka from a short holiday, I heard the disturbing news that South Auckland businessman, Bruce Emery, had stabbed teenager Pihema Cameron on Saturday night. Pihema was with a friend and were about to tag a fence, when Bruce ran after them and stabbed the tagger - Pihema died.

What was most disturbing about it was my initial reaction which went along the lines of "good job". 10 years ago I would never have said or thought such a thing - taking the law into your own hands just wasn't in my cup of tea.

My second reaction was absolute horror at my first - of course I don't think that stabbing a tagger was a just act and I don't think I would ever partake in acts of vigilantism (although touch my nieces and I won't be held accountable for my actions). However, after 5 years of property management (thankfully now in my past), and dealing with constant acts of theft and vandalism against mine and my clients properties - I am ready to crack.

I live in a nice neighbourhood, but in the month of December there were 40 stolen vehicle, 45 burglaries, 131 thefts from cars (one being mine). No figures on the number of tags made to property, but since my garage is tagged every few weeks it must be nearing 1,000 acts of vandalism every month. So I have to deal with crime at least once a month (when I was in property management it was about 3 times a month).

I don't think I'm particularly out of the ordinary in this regard and I also think that Bruce Emery was probably dealing with a similar (and probably worse) scenario down in South Auckland and simply just cracked. Unfortunately now he will be sent to jail and his family will have to live without a son, brother, husband and father.

Pihema's family also must deal with life without their son and brother - just because he and his like can't leave the rest of us alone to get on with our non-criminal lives.

Now there is a way to help out the over-stretched Police force by volunteering for Community Patrols NZ and patroling your streets. Less crime = less stress for us all. And the more that volunteer, the less night patrols each individual (ie: me) has to do per month.

And if you really need serious bad-arse help - that the Police just can't provide - then call Rent-a-Bro and the likes of the Parnell Panther will come and sort out those baddies for you - good to know.

T'is the season to be bloody burgled

Well the year started with my car being broken into and ends with it being broken into - nice to have a bit of consistency in my life. Unfortunately this time two windows smashed - and I have to drive around in a old Mazda Bongo van - kindly loaned from father. Could have taken the Beema, but with criminals roaming the streets I didn't want to risk parking it round here. To make matters worse Bongo doesn't have air-con! To make matters doubly worse I can't park it in my free underground carpark at work, so rather expensive going to work at the moment.

In case you are not aware, burglaries increase at this time of the year, what with all the school kids with time on their hands and no inclination to go out and god forbid work. So don't leave your house empty and keep your eyes peeled for those loser, bastard, shitheads of our society.

Which brings me nicely onto alarms - great things usually, but when your bloody neighbour goes away with a bloody faulty alarm that bloody goes off about three bloody times each day and at least once a bloody night, it ain't bloody good - flatmate not bloody happy. Strange thing is I sleep thru it every time! And I am usually the lightest sleeper in the world. Consistency once again a good thing.
